Our Mission
OperaEd exists to inspire and educate a new generation of opera-lovers who do not currently have access to the art form, through fun, immersive workshops and performances.
Our vision is a world where opera is accessible to everyone, regardless of age, socio economics or ethnic background.
Our holistic approach to teaching music, movement and acting provides a space for children to explore, build confidence and learn.
We champion physical, emotional and social wellbeing throughout our practice, engaging children through positive, playful opportunities for release, reflection and growth.
Our post-workshop resources in wellbeing, music learning, creative writing and design support, extend and enhance our workshop aims.

Our values
-

-
Creativity
children are born creative, we provide a space for their extraordinary capacity to innovate.
What makes OperaEd different?
OperaEd works complementarily with the Department of Education’s new Model Music Curriculum, addressing the lack of access to classical music education in the UK and enabling children to experience live opera performed by diverse singers as an inspiring vision of the future of the arts.
We reveal the cross-curricular importance of opera, introducing all the elements of the art form - acting, singing, dance, design - in our workshops and enhancing music learning, creative writing, wellbeing and design with our resources thereafter.
Our workshops and performances are not one-offs. We return termly or annually to provide a focal event for each year, offering schools stability in academic planning.
Our workshops are fully-funded for schools, our performances are action-packed and engaging, and we use English translations to minimise barriers to understanding.
